The Nobel Peace Prize Forum is pleased to announce that Dr. William Foege will be attending and speaking at the 2014 Forum on March 8th in Minneapolis. Dr. William Foege received his undergraduate degree at Pacific Lutheran University, his medical degree from the University of Washington, and his Master’s degree in Tropical Public Health from Harvard. He has worked around the world on immunization and disaster relief but is best known for his major humanitarian scientific contribution to the eradication of smallpox. His book House on Fire: A Fight to Eradicate Smallpox chronicles the global strategy that rid the world of this disease. He has served as Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Executive Director of the Carter Center, Executive Director of the Task Force for Child Survival and with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. He is Professor Emeritus at Emory University.
